It's really stupid. I'm confident the bump button was added to prevent people posting bs comments like "new video when xD?" but the same problem happens, just without a worthless post attached to it. They should do what other forums did and simply not have the bump button and just ban anyone that posts begging. 1 warning then perma.

I think the bump button serves a purpose, but there should definitely be a cooldown on it, like not being able to bump threads unless they're several weeks old.

Sure, that's reasonable. It needs a cooldown or some other method to mitigate the button being abused. I agree with it being there as a deterrent to 'beg spam'
