As long as the bumps don't send notifications I don't mind. The notifications work fairly well here and my watched threads tab is pretty much useless right now with all the comments I've left answering questions and responding to reports.
In the end I'd rather have people pressing the bump button instead of leaving worthless comments that I have to delete.

Sometimes posts getting deleted can mess up notifications. You see this a lot on active threads, especially where people are constantly replying with posts that need to be deleted. Sometimes also if you're getting a lot of notifications some of them might get buried and the system won't always send a new notification until you clear the first one.
