yes and no. she could have quit all the time sure.
but she would have retained her stigma of being scamouranth. as you can see below your post, people already teaming up now and blame everything on the dude, she never wanted to scam. it was all him!

again, i don't say it is a fake! but i also don't say that she never would do something like that just to make more money and good PR. both is very possible.

Retained her stigma? The people that don’t believe her are never likely to believe her. Hell I am not a fan of hers. But I will take the time to believe women when they are saying they are abused. I can always walk it back if it turns out to be false but I will always believe. Too many women go through this shit and it’s the people saying “ wait for the full story to come out” or “she has scammed before so I don’t believe her now”. Then shit happens and something terrible happens.

Believe women. If they say that they have been assaulted. Rapes. Battered. Believe them. Too many don’t and too many end up dead.

If it turns out that she is lying or scamming. People will not let it go. She will end up losing it all. So what do you have to lose by believing?

Not making any assumptions about this situation, but what if the "abuser" is you and you were falsely accused? That stigma doesn't go away.

From what we've seen though, it does seem bad for whoever was on the phone.
